New PSA Standard Coming Into Effect

Who Is The Private Security Authority?

The Private Security Authority (PSA) is the statutory body with responsibility for licensing and regulating the private security industry in Ireland.

What Is This New Standard?

In December 2013, the PSA published the new standard to replace IS 999. The new standard which is entitled “PSA Licensing Requirements – Door Supervision and Security Guarding 2013” has been in development for over 2 years and draws on the licensing experience of the past 7 years.

The new standard, which is also referred to as PSA 28:2013, is available to review on the PSA website.

PSA 28:2013 will take effect from the 1st May 2014. Existing licensed contractors will be required to comply with the document at their first audit after the 1st May 2014. New licence holders will be required to comply with the document at their first full audit.
